Torch was a special puppy selected from my first homebred litter. I had purchased CH Goldenloe's Bronze Lustre from Mrs Enloe in the fall of 1968 and had driven from Wisconsin to Colorado over the Thanksgiving holiday to pick her up. Bronze was a four year old maiden bitch. She came in heat shortly after her purchase and, after much soul searching, I selected CH Rockgold Chug's Ric O Shay to be her mate. This litter resulted in "Torchy", CH Rockgold Ric's Cookie (below), and Beckwith's Topbrass Regent (13 pts when he died while having his hips x-rayed). Bronze had only one more litter. This time we selected CH Synspur Irah of Featherquest owned by Pagey Elliot.

Torch was bred four times, always to field trial dogs. The order of her breedings were:

Cookie was owned by Connie & Jim Lee of Rockgold Kennel. She was their choice in a stud pup.
She is shown winning her class in a large Puppy match with me (Jackie Mertens) handling her.
