Cody
It has been a while since I spoke with you and
wanted you to know about our dog, Topbrass Commando Cody who will
be three this month. I was looking for a dog that would be a faithful family
companion and a good hunting dog and can report that "Cody" has
been fabulous!
Living in South Dakota, we hunted quite a bit this year and everyone I was
with commented on how well Cody worked on both pheasants and waterfowl.
I wish I could take the credit for training him but I think it was all in
the genetics - he simply knew what to do based on his instincts. In fact,
our last hunt included 5 dogs (2 pointers, 2 labs and my Golden, Cody) and
he was the best of the bunch in pushing through the brush rousing the birds.
Plus, he also made friends with all the hunters.
I also have to report he is a real family member and sleeps on the foot
of my daughter's bed (yeah, he is spoiled but happy). Thanks for a wonderful
dog.

We have an almost 14 year old Topbrass Retriever,
"Lion," who we bought in July 1992.
Lion has been an absolutely fantastic dog in every
way and I just wanted to say thank you. I have yet to meet a better golden
retriever in terms of personality, intelligence, athleticism and moral compass.
(He is indeed quite good at manipulating latches and doorknobs with paws
and teeth. Most importantly, he's been very good friend to all of us.
I hope that someday, after we all recover from
the inevitable, we'll be able to call Topbrass again and find another dog
who is capable of filling Lion's "shoes."

CODY
Cody is now 9 1/2 years old and has been the best
friend and companion anyone could ask for. In fact, as I am writing to thank
you , he is laying at my feet. He is still in tremendous physical condition,
and has never had ANY health issues.
Cody is an extremely intelligent and sensitive
dog. He is still wanting to please, and is willing to do anything asked. He
has been part of our family as it has grown (now with three children). As
the kids grew, we never had any concerns that Cody would hurt the kids when
they were infants. He is still very gentle with all children and other dogs.
I could go on for pages with examples of how great Cody
is, but I believe you already know the kind of dogs you breed. Had
I known how perfect of a dog we would have received, I would have paid ten
times the amount we paid... there is no way to set a price on the love,
trust, and companionship Cody has brought us. Given his great health, we
look forward to many more years with the best dog ever!!!
Please keep up the good work and high standards,
so that others can have the experience our family has had with Cody.

Robin
I am so very pleased with Robin - I don't ever
want to be without a Topbrass Golden! It was
so scary to buy a puppy hundreds of miles away that I hadn't even seen.
But you picked out just what I asked for. And I couldn't be happier. People
have always asked me why do I spay my girls - why not breed? Now I really
understand how important a good breeder is. Not only working to improve
the breed but knowing how to place puppies in the right home. I will leave
the breeding up to people like you.
She learns SO fast !! I think she will be ready for a TDX test in the fall.
She loves to track .. Well, I could go on all night and tell you all the
great things she can do but you probably know most of them ..

ODIE
Here is a recent photo of our beloved golden "Odie".
A great family dog, walking companion, and just plain good dog!
Our dog has just been such an outstanding animal that we sometimes can't
believe he's a dog. His games with us are unique and reflect his gentle
personality.
He has always been given the run of our house and has never abused the privilege.
He is always well mannered and gentle. What a JOY!

Tess
I just wanted to tell you how happy I am with Tess.
She was out of the litter from Lottie and Sam and is everything I had hoped
for and more. She is not quite four months old and just completed Puppy
K. She passesd with flying colors. She learned all the commands quickly
and with hardly any corrections. I plan on continuing through all the levels
of obedience, I only hope I can keep up with her. Sometimes I think she
is smarter than I am.

Brandy
Our Topbrass Brandy Fizz (Mash X Moxie) is turning
out to be everything I had hoped for. She is very intelligent and eager
to please. Her obedience training is going smoothly and she loves to learn
new things. She has boundless energy and loves to swim. Every time she comes
in from the back yard she brings me a treasure of some sort (stick, flower,
clump of grass).
This pup shows an extradinary amount of confidence
that can only be instilled by expert care and attention between birth and
going to their new homes. If I can hold up my end we will be a great obedience
team. Best of all she is my shadow and constant companion.

Topbrass Storm
of Blueheron CD WC
Here is an update of how our "Storm",
(Rusty X Tilly). He is the most eager to please dog that I have ever owned.
I entered him in 11 obedience trials all over Ontario. His first four trials
were all "High In Trials" and qualified him for a "Dog World
Award". He won his class every trial and won 2 more "High IN Trials".
I am really glad that he is so level headed as
he lives as our most treasured house pet. He is very affectionate and would
turn himself inside out to please you. I have done lots of basic field training
with Storm and of course I take him waterfowl and upland bird hunting. I'm
sure that you will not be surprised that he is very good! I find that the
obedience training is a very good foundation for the field. He is trained
for CDX and he loves it! I can't wait to trial him again this year!

"Molson"
Just wanted to let you know, Molson is doing GREAT!
He is going to start running Senior Hunt tests in three weeks. He ran as
Junior test dog in our club's Spring Hunt test a few weeks ago OFF LEAD
and NAILED his marks-the gallery was absolutely amazed-especially when they
were informed that this was the VERY FIRST TEST Molson had ever run. We
decided to skip Junior tests and just get him very solid before we started
running him. He is 62 lbs right now (he's a lean little running machine)
who is a big time kisser! He is spring loaded, birdy as anything and loves
the game. We are very happy with him.

Maxi
A word or two on Maxi. She is now a whopping 54lbs.
Maxi was pressed into service as my number one gun dog last fall at the
tender young age of 7 months, due to my older dog's illness. With just a
few weeks of formal training the pup was skillfully retrieving Ducks, and
Pheasants. Before the Goose Season ended in late December, Maxi had retrieved
her first Giant Canada Goose. No small accomplishment for a little pup that
weighed in at about 45 lbs at the time. The look on her face when she caught
up to that big bird was priceless. "You want me to retrieve HIM? You've
got to be kidding me!"
Maxi is a very stylish dog with incredible courage
and tenacity. She is simply relentless when in pursuit of her objectives.
There aren't many Goldens that can outrun and outcorner a hard running Pheasant,
Maxi is one of them. She is extremely fast and runs with almost reckless
abandon. When sending her on a blind you have to be thinking at least 50
yards in front of her, or your whistles will always be late.

Blaze
We just wanted to let you know how pleased we are
with our new puppy. We have registered him as Topbrass Flash and Splash
Trailblazer and call him Blaze, he came from Emma's and Pal's litter. Blaze
is now three months old and never ceases to amaze us with his intelligence
and spirit. We planned o quickly enroll him in a training class but most
in our area didn't allow dogs under four months old. We ended up holding
off because by the time he was 11 weeks he already did everything the class
taught and more (sit, stay, lay down, come, heel, retrieving, and kennel
(going into his crate). He is also well behaved around other dogs.
Our next goal is field trial training and some
hunting once he gets a little bigger, we are also considering agility trials
since he could climb a three foot high fence since the day we brought him
home.
Our Blaze is everything we had hoped for and we
could not be happier. Thanks for your dedication and professionalism, it
has provided us with a new friend and family member that has enriched our
lives!

Breeze at 22 months of age. |
Breeze
We are already thrilled with our new puppy.
He has been named: Topbrass Southern Breeze. We call him Breeze.
We're working sit, come and fetching in the hallway. I have some Teal
wings and he's just crazy for them. He has made friends with the cat,
not good friends, yet, but getting there, and only been put in his place
twice by the other two dogs, who were eating at the time, he finished first.
His crate is already his home and he's only had one accident in the house.

Buffy with her first duck |
Buffy
We are thrilled with our new Teke puppy. We are
amazed at her actions. She has not gone to the bathroom in her transport
kennel on the trip, or in the house. She seems to be house trained and she
woke me up at 4am to go out. I thought she was up to play but she took care
of business and back to sleep. Yesterday she investigated the pond. Today
she followed Bouncer in and swam like a little muskrat. I was not expecting
this action and was about to dive in after her, but she went out and circled
back like she had done it before.

Roc
What a great hunting companion and good friend.
After completing his training I took Roc to South Dakota this weekend and
he did a fabulous job. At only 1 year and 2 1/2 months he acted like he
had hunted pheasants on many occasions. One time he broke from retrieving
a downed bird, and flushed a live one. Another time while I tried to figure
out how to get over some 6 foot hay bales, Roc climbed over and made the
retrieve. Thanks again for a great puppy dog and best friend.

Grace
We are having a great time training and 'Grace'
is doing well. This is a Rita/Cain pup from last summer. She has a ton of
potential. I love this dog. She is willing, honest, sensitive, smart and
sweet.

Bill and I just wanted to let you know how pleased we are with our Amos.
He's a terrific dog--his build is just great with a wonderful disposition
and almost to smart. Usually you will find something that could be improved
on but, in this case we are just thrilled. We thought that you would like
an update and please feel free to use us as a reference in this area or
any other. Thanks again for the great job in breeding and for the special
care you give to all of you pups.
Phylis Italia of PA
Dixie just turned six months old and is the greatest dog I have ever had.
At four months we enrolled in Kindergarten, . There were five other dogs
in the class all older than Dixie, but Dixie could already do everything
they were trying to teach. They all wanted their dogs to be as well behaved
as Dixie. Dixie will now heel well, holds for the throw until released,
marks and retrieves every time. She sits, stays, down, shakes and rolls
over on command. She is a water dog......she loves the water and goes in
at every chance. She is as smart as a whip. Everyone who meets her dearly
loves her. She is also as sweet as they come.
She is truly the smartest dog I have ever owned and learns everything
very fast. I played catch with her, and from the first day, she catches
the throws in the air. Sometimes she misses but more often not. She remembers
where she left her bumper or frizzby or tennis ball. When I ask her to get
them, she does. Thanks again for such a swell dog.
Kurt Nivens of GA
Our Topbrass puppy has grown into a great dog. She is about 2 now, and
has a temperament which is a wonderful mix of obedience and initiative.
While she is friendly and social at home, she is a determined hunter in
the field.

We got to Missoula last night with no problems!! Doc slept most of the
time and let us know every 2 hours when he needed a pit stop!!! We love
him!! He plowed right into the shallow creek that is in our yard, bounded
up the stairs with no problem and has a nose that won't stop!!!..............Again
many thanks we think Doc is the best!!!
Greg & HJ Hanson of MT
Just wanted to let you know that the pup we received from Teke's litter
is doing very well. We love him dearly. He is, to this point, both the most
intelligent and the most self confident pup we've had yet. There is an easily
discernable light in his eye. He notices everything. Well, I guess what
I really wanted to tell you is that you really do breed wonderful dogs.
Toby is our third dog with connections to your program (Max, one of Zap's
pups; Murphy, from Taco Chip; and now our pup from Teke's litter), and once
again I want to thank you.
Michael Bennett of Baltimore, MD
Rosie is adapting very well and she is such a joy. She also is
very smart. House breaking was easy and she already comes and sits
when she is called. We love her so much.
Susie & Rick Bell of Cortez, CO
Just a note to thank you for the dog that we purchased from you several
years ago. Topbrass Alex Ready to Dunc(an) is our dog's AKC name. He is
an outstanding hunter and water retriever. I think that he has taught me
very well, or at least he would tell you that I have become very obedient!
Alex and I generally run 3 miles a night and hunt as often as the season
and family time permits. We have a summer home in the Upper Peninsula of
Michigan on a wonderful lake. When we are there, he is never dry! His water
entry is magnificent. His leap may be 10 or more feet. He is without fear
and his heart is incredible.
Again, I thank you for this wonderful companion. At some point, I will probably
be contacting you for litter information.
