Poika was bred by Henry Lardy (father of professional trainer, Mike Lardy ). Henry was a professor at the University of Wisconsin in Madison and would farm dogs out to graduate students and faculty. At that time, he was an active golden enthusiast and president of the GRCA. Poika lived in such a home and spent his days hunting and running loose on the farm.

Poika was a very influential golden sire, even though he never competed in anything. Most of our present day field competitors go back to Poika thru dogs such as FC AFC Northbreak's Kinike Sir Jim, who was the sire of AFC Yankee's Smoke'n Red Devil. Red Devil in turn produced 8 Titled goldens.

Poika was bred several times to Shenandoah of Stilrovin CD*** and produced four field titled offspring:

FC AFC Northbreak's Kinike Sir Jim
FC AFC Riverview's Kinike Oro De Rojo
several other were Qualified Open All Age

I bred three bitches to Poika and had some very well known offspring.

The third bitch I bred to Poika did not take-that was CH Topbrass Ad-lib's Bangor ***. Poika was almost 12 years old at the time, and it was in the heat of the summer.
