LUKE had major surgery one week after placing 4th in the Amateur at
the GRCA National Specialty in the fall of 97. Surgeons at the U. of Illinois
removed an Adrenal Gland tumor. He is recovering nicely with Lisa Halcomb
and has spent the winter there.
- Luke ran for anyone. He easily earned his Canadian Field Championship
and Amateur Championship as a four year old. After being purchased by Torch Flinn of TIGATHOE Kennels in late
1994, he was professionally trained by Ed Forry to an Open win and second
and has 17 1/2 All Age points. He earned his Field Championship on May
10th 1997 by placing 3rd in the Open at the Midwest Field Trial in Joliet,
Illinois.
With the death of "Torch Flinn" in April 96, we were fortunate
to acquire Luke. He is a dynamic retriever with a lot to offer the breed.
LUKE excels in cold water with a great water entry and powerful
swimming skills. These attributes are so often lacking in goldens. His
pedigree incorporates the countries leading competitive golden bloodlines,
yet it is open enough to combine well with some of the tightly linebred
field lines. He should produce exceptionally well with COTTON daughters
and granddaughters and combines nicely with the Red-Razz bloodlines or
those going back directly to BARTY. He is a full time HOUSE PET
and couch potato when not being campaigned.
Although not extensively bred, he has several offspring currently running
trials, and placing in major stakes in Canada and the states. He is an
GRCA Outstanding sire. Luke died a natural death at 12 years of age. He
had hunted with Jerry Halcomb a month before his death and died at the
Halcombs in Central Illinois.
