 Sound Beginnings Retriever Video
by Jackie Mertens

LEA'S puppies are being raised by Carole Sullivan and her family in Elmhurst, Illinois. The Sullivans and their children do an excellent job of raising and socializing pups. Linda Waco and/or I (Jackie Mertens) will do the final evaluation and placement at 7 weeks of age. Pups will be picked up at the Wacos in McHenry, Illinois.

LEA and JACK have been bred in hopes of producing an exceptional all purpose golden. The breeding excels in good looks and working ability and should produce attractive, healthy, talented working retrievers. This breeding goes back many generations with great producing GOLDENS with OTCH, MACH, FC and AFC Titles, such as:

FTCH AFTCH Cedarpond's R.V. Am.***OS Can. FDHF
FC Wraiths HTR MN Bro Macdhuibh OS

AFC Holway Barty OS
MACH 2 High Times Spider Besid'r MH WCX ***
AFC Emberain Rugby WCX OS FDHF

OTCH Tanbark's Solar Eclipse UDX JH WC OBHF OS Can. CD

The LEA and JACK pups should be capable of competing in Hunt Tests, Obedience, Agility, Search & Rescue and be exceptional Family companions and Hunters. Both LEA and JACK are healthy, sound retrievers with pleasant temperaments, good looks and classic Golden personalities as well as strong genetic and health back rounds. They are both excellent house dogs.

LEA is a 55-pound medium gold bitch. She is sired by the outstanding producer AFC Emberain Rugby WCX OS FDHF. Rugby was an Outstanding sire and competitor. LEA'S mother is - SPIDER - MACH 2 in Agility, MH and Qualified All age. These are very significant titles for this Golden girl.

JACK is a wonderful dark red golden. He is sired by OTCH Tanbark's True Grit UDX2 - a multiple High In Trial Obedience Champion. His Dam is: SHR U-CDX Chasser's Pleasant Speaker JH WCX CDX CCA OD Jack's hips are rated OFA Excellent.

According to Jack's owner "Jack excels in Obedience. Two years in a row, Jack has qualified for the National Obedience Invitational. In 2010, he competed for the National Obedience Championship in Los Angeles.and is qualified to go again in 2011.
When Angie (Jack's owner) has any time to spare she and Jack dabble in field training and have a JUNIOR HUNTER TITLE and a WC.

This litter should be the perfect combination for intelligent, attractive working retrievers, capable of any endeavors their owners wish to pursue as well as being livable family members. In other words, IDEAL RETRIEVERS.

OUR puppies are carefully raised in the home environment and socialized accordingly. They are individually stimulated daily for maximum potential. Due to these procedures, the puppies readily accept new and varied distractions and stimuli in the environment around them. Our puppies enjoy individual "play exercises", and are introduced to retrieving by this method. We encourage the new owners of all our Topbrass puppies to continue "motivational training" through PUPPY CLASSES to ensure an easy transition from our environment to their new homes. Pups brought up in this manner mature into well adjusted adults.

Before leaving Topbrass, our puppies are wormed, have their dew claws removed, are given their first shots, and are examined by our veterinarian for overall health and soundness.

We also MICROCHIP each pup with the AKC recommended TROVAN Chip. Owners are encouraged to individually register their pups in the CAR program (Companion Animal Recovery) with the form we Provide.

We test and evaluate our puppies using procedures outlined by various behavioral psychologists, in addition to individual methods that we have developed over the past 35 years to determine the temperament and potential of each pup.

In addition to the above, we have a Puppy Support Program available to Topbrass Retriever owners.

 PRICE & DEPOSIT

The price of the LEA and JACK puppies is $1400 with Limited Registration, and $1800 for breeding potential and AKC Full Registration. Limited Registration means that the puppy is registered but no litters produced by that dog are eligible for registration. This AKC procedure helps protect established breeding programs. These dogs can be shown in obedience trials, field trials, hunt tests, and agility.
This price reflects the quality of the breeding, the commitment we have to the breed in terms of time and financial investment, our continual updates of health clearances and improvement of our breeding stock, and the caring and concern of our Topbrass network of helpers.
We require a deposit of $200 to reserve puppies in advance of whelping; litters generally sell quickly. We ask that our puppies be registered with the "TOPBRASS PREFIX". Please feel free to call us at (850) 929-7502 or email us at: jackie@topbrass-retrievers.com
